Hi All,
I'm a Perl programmer currently doing an MSc at Uni. From talking to the professors here, the main module they use Perl on is Forensics. I'm thinking of taking that module at some point (it's not part of my MSc), and it's sparked an interest for me. Most of my Perl knowledge is Web based, I'm guessing the things you guys would use it for it more like sysadmin work.
I spoke with one of the guys who is doing the forensics course and he told me there is software that does a lot of it for you. From this I've picked up an old copy of FTK and have started to play about with it. I wish I knew about stuff like this a few years back, I had a CCTV unit that messed up and I was unable to get some footage from it as the disk didn't have a recognised format. Now I see tools like FTK and DiskDigger would have come to my aid. If only I still had the HD (
I'm sure I'll have questions soon enough, but for now I just wanted to introduce myself and say hello.

Hullo - nice to have another Perl programmer around 😉 Which Uni are you studying at that teaches with it ? I wasn't aware that anyone did !
UWE. They don't go into to much depth on the module, but something is better than nothing ) They were happy for Bristol and Bath Perl moungers to do a presentation to the students last year. We are hoping to do something next term on Perl 6
