If cheaper software was unable to recover. is it most likely a lost cause and not possible or is oxygen really that much better than the rest?
I have used all software mentioned, plus more and one thing that we should always remember is no software is perfect and all can produce different results. People will have their favorites and own preferences and some tools are better than others for certain things, however this is why verification is important.
You have already had an offer from Igor to provide him with the files (yes they may be personal or classified etc) however it's a better option than spending loads of money on tools. It all depends how important the data is to you I guess! )
Hi Guys,
Looks like I have a similar issue, but not quite…
I have only just got my hands on UFED 4PC, I have not had any of their training yet however I am planning to it as soon as case work dies down.
I can see the message that interests me but I am trying to figure out the sender. I know the receiver and the time and date. The message is deleted.
Is there a simple way to recover the senders mobile number? If so, is there a guide?
Thank You
C
I do not think Oxygen,XRY or UFED kind of money needs to be spent. If you have access to the sms.db or any other database I would recommend using EPILOG by CCL, link below

This is a really good tool to use. I am however unaware of the cost.
Good luck

Does EPILOG extract data from iPhone? 😯 Tell me how to make it, please.
NO EPILOG does not extract data from the phone instead it carves data from databases. As stated in my post if you have access to the sms.db there is a possibility to recover deleted messages.
I do not work for CCL and in no way am I saying EPILOG is the best product to use. We do use EPILOG at my work place and we get really good results with it, we use it as another tool to verify our results from .xry and UFED.

Thank you for your answer.
I used Epilog a little. I'm using Oxygen Forensic SQLite Viewer now, but I don't speak that Epilog is bad. It is the good tool too.
