I am looking for assistance with the research stage of my final year project.
The brief outline of my project is a forensic tool to detect sex offenders of possible reoffending.
It would be a bootable disk that would run on a offender computer to search for specific files and items to look for signs of reoffending. It would be similar to software like Helix but aimed at users with no forensic computer background.
Sorry if this is too brief it is hard to explain the project in full with out going it to detail but I will gladly send anyone a full description of the project if they would like to help.
My ideal candidates to complete the questionnaire would be either those in the role who monitor sex offender and carry out assessment at their homes, these are normally public protection officers
Or forensic computer examiner who deals with cases relating to indecent images of children.

Hi Crissy
You perhaps need to be first aware that such a tool is already in wide use by UK public protection officers. It is called "SPADA" and is taught as a short course at NPIA, Wyboston. It is a Linux boot disc with a selection of tools on it to enable non technical users to triage a suspects computer for indecent images of children and other artefacts.
I don't mention that to put you off your proposed project, SPADA is a good tool but these things can always be improved upon with a fresh pair of eyes.
As I was a public protection officer before I made the leap into CF I would be happy to complete your questionnaire. I may also be able to persuade some ex colleagues to take a look at it as well if that would help.
