Hello all and thank you for your time this is a fascinating and cutting edge field.

I have a personal situation, I work for a Company that works in banks, doing IT services etc. That is only important in the implications personally of what I am about to explain. As I need to maintain a clean criminal background as they don't provide keys to banks after hours to anyone.

My Ex and I have split. She obtained a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) for "Domestic Violence" which is completely untrue and the judge made mutual after stating there is NO evidence of domestic violence.

Now the instructions in the order both the TRO and the RO are NO contact via everything, cellphone text included.

Now here is what I require help with. On one eveing when the TRO was in effect, I am asleep and at 430 AM I am awakened by this banging on the door, I respond in time to find the police driving away. I found that weird and had no idea what was wanted. We were due to be at the RO hearing the following day, and I was to be out of town so my attorney was going in my place. After the hearing the Ex's new boyfriend and the Ex approach my attorney stating that I had violated the TRO and RO contacting my Ex 16 times immediately following the hearing. They also went to the local police department who called me asking why I was texting her and violating the RO. I told them I wasn't. But bottom line here, is had I openned the door that morning at 430 AM I would've been arrested for violating a Domestic Violence Restraining Order, held in jail, missed my plane flights and most likely been fired from my position. As many of you know there are many men's lives destroyed everyday by women who falsely accuse them of such acts in revenge.

So what I have done was contacted my carrier, it is actually my work cellphone carrier and they show no record of calls or texts to my Ex's number. What is occurring apparently, is the Ex's BF is "spoofing" my work cellphone number, or cloning, but my guess is "spoofing" text messages to her cellphone making it appear to be me, in an attempt to get me arrested on a domestic violence charge, fired and all that goes along with it. This type of behavior should be criminal on many levels, I live in a small town in Northern Nevada, that may or may not care to chase this down, but this type of behavior needs to be prosecuted. Any suggestions of how I need to go about getting the information to prove it is these two individuals using their own devices to commit false police reports, violating US Federal Law on "spoofing" etc?

Sorry if this is a bit disjointed if you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Thanks in advance.

J

J,
While her hand set can be spoofed I have never heard of someone being able to spoof your CDR's. Regardless of what her phone shows, a certified copy of your cell phone records should keep you in the clear.

Several months ago I was told that SMS's could not "currently" be spoofed, but something could have changed since then? I would be interested to know if that specific capability exists.

Also, make sure you get a certificate of records, business records affidavit or something showing the authenticity of the records which will help if you want to present them as evidence.

Good luck!

Thanks for the input, and yes my companies carrier, shows I did not send the information on my bill.

But this is the equivilent of creating false evidence to get me locked up. In December O'bama signed into law the "spoofing" and misrepresentation law, and violations of this nature are punishable by 10,000 dollar fine and 1 year in jail per instance. These knuckleheads texted at least 16 times.

I am looking at how do I direct the law enforcement officials on this, confiscate the hand set the message was received on, track back through the IP, or onsite wireless modem the MAC or MEID of the sending unit which will either be my daughters laptop, or this clowns cellphone. Then I'd like to have them arrested and charged.

But I'm in a town where I may have to explain to the DA the capabilities.

I mean this is serious life threatening stuff.

There certainly used to be quite a few sites offering 'SMS Spoofing' services.

http//www.fakemytext.com/ Being an example.

It could be worth investigating if they still work or if it has all been tied down again.

It looks like you can get an app on Cydia that spoofs the sender ID I think

Does your ex have an iPhone by any chance?
