hidden files and folders not working

It would help if you post your OS + Service Pack, what installation medium have you used (Backup Image, Genuine Retail Windows CD, network Install etc). You mentioned Formatting disk, was it a full format or quick format. Is your computer connected to a network, a part of the domain? Which registries have you tried to modify to enable the view of hidden folders option?
