Hi Everyone
Just a quick question, I would like to know if any one has any knowledge of how Mobile Phones are blocked. I know if you have a registered phone and it is stolen you can call the phone compny give them the unique IEM number of the phone and the phone is then blocked and can not be used, Unless you unblock it for which i know you can get 3 years in prison for doing so.
What iI would like to know is that what actually happens after the IEM is given how is the phone blocked?
Hope you understand my question, and someone out their is able to hlp.
Thankyou.

Hi Imran
The number you are refering too is IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity).
When a phone is switched on, this unique IMEI number is transmitted by the phone and checked against a database of blacklisted phones in the network's EIR (Equipment ID Register). This determines whether the phone can log onto the network to make and receive calls.
Not sure if that answers your question
