How do you keep track of incident metrics?

If anyone here keeps track of incident metrics, how do you do it? I was thinking if you include in your report a section that not only presents information to the reader, but does so in a way that would be easy for a script to parse, you could write a script to go through a directory of reports and extract the metrics to a CSV file. That would let you kill two birds with one stone, but I have no idea how other people are doing it. Is there a better way?
