hello,
what I just posted is the evevt view on my laptop as this morning just after midnight the pc froze up again. the problem occurred at around 0030. Could anyone see anything unusual or is this not the right log I should search for? I went into Event viewer then Windows Logs then System. I then had to switch off manually the pc then restart and I started recording again. Could this be that the pc is being induced to freeze up using some sort of remote command? Or is this due to the fact that I run different application that might cause some sort of conflict? When I restarted I avoided opening apps of any type. I use WEindows 8
I record sounds as well, yes, but when the pc freezes up then the video does not record them
Hello,
the freezes go on. This morning at an unexpected time. As if the previous occurrencies were a test to see how far they could do things. This morning the video was frozen at around 240am but I did not found out until 518am when I started the pc again. Below the event view on my pc

The start type of the Background Intelligent Transfer Service service was changed from demand start to auto start.
"this is when the freeze occurred, after just 2hours 39minutes the pc was found frozen at 518am, more than 2h40minutes later. the recorded video on this is just 2h 31 minutes"

To be noted these freezes appear to be odd in a sense that the NCH debut software I use is given compatible on Windows 8. Then, moreover, I've been using this software since november, never I have experienced any problem. This pc I use is used exclusivley for recording the scene. I keep the pc turned off during the day and is only being used at night every night for around 7 hours, is well ventilated, there is a laptop cooling pad underneath that keeps the system extra cool. The pc is brand new, bought in november.
So this would look as if they were trying to figure out how to pass the hurdle and they decided trying to freeze the pc at a given point to allow for something to take place. How do I find out if this theory might be confirmed?
this morning I found out that the video recording software is playing the sounds back to me while recording. could that be a sign that something was modified? yesterday i m sure that did not happen
Any idea? I was thinking, what if then they decided to have the webcamera being frozen at times and made sure the recording program kept recording? Would that be possible? Just for short bursts of 1 minute or so, during which events took place. Since the videos are being watched at high speed (16x) what is the way to spot possible freezes? very little is going on in the videos.
How would be possible to find the event of a 'freeze' in the event viewer?
This is done by analyzing single frames and time stamps.
ok however the videos are have are on average 7 hours long or more. I would not think that a frame by frame analysis could be convenient. Would there be a better way?
As well I have concerns that among the things being tried, is the use of a mirror in the scene and wearing clothes that might 'blend' in the image, some sort of camouflage. Again have you heard of similar methods? How could you use a mirror to hide? how to spot such scenes?

Invisibility cloaks, sure.
Besides the usual Harry Potter reference, here is a couple nice ones

How could you use a mirror to hide?
Check *any* manual/book about stage magicians, the chapter titled "smoke and mirrors" would do. wink
Also, get a copy of "Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol" and see how they trick the surveillance in the Kremlin.
A number of other movies, usually related to spies and bank/safe robberies show a series of possible approaches, from injecting a "video loop" to using mirrors and/or static images.
But I doubt that any of the above are technologies/methods that either work in real life or that are available to the "average Joe".
how to spot such scenes?
In the video you already have, or in the future?
If the latter add more cameras with different angles and one or more "changing" objects (like a clock, lights that emit bursts of lights at different intervals, etc.) in the view of the camera(s).

ok, I was more thinking the first, how to discover those scenes in the video that I have. I have hours of video to scour through.
then I do have a clock in the view of the camera and the video is timestamped, I see both time and date. How do I spot those scenes?

Like check if the clock on the video is synchronized with the video timestamp (or has a known delay), then got a frame screenshot every (say) 1 minute (or 30 seconds) and check on the screenshot if the sync is maintained?
