Don't laugh . . .
A friend gave me her old (circa 2000) HP Jornada to "use". I happen to prefer my G1 phone for the kinds of tasks it's capable of, so I thought this might be a fun little learning project to take on to see if she really did "wipe everything" as she claims she did. 😯
(I have her permission to do this, btw).
Seeing as I'm still plodding through my CCE it won't be for a little while yet, and please forgive the unforgiveably newbie question, but . . . where should I start? (Other than "acquire an image" that is). Suggestions for acquisition hardware/software and examination tools all welcome. I have a $0 budget. oops
Even if you are still going through the CCE (congrats) just approach it the same way you would anything else.
At the very least you get in the groove of doing things a certain way. Don't approach it as I want to see what is on there, see it as a learning experience and a potential case.
Figure out what the ultimate goal is
Take pictures
Write down model information
Think about power source (will it go out on you at anytime lack of power)
Think about Wi Fi and if it will connect to anything
Acquire
Verify
Take your image and open some tools and hunt around.
Rough steps, but you can go from there I think.
