I'm thinking of joining. Anyone have an opinion on membershp?
It depends on where you are and how active the local chapter is…I think the HTCIA chapter in Atlanta sponsored the Southeast Cybercrime Summit.

I believe that's correct.
The old chestnut is they don't allow in anyone working for the defence, I believe. There's a fairly old letter which addresses that

I find this interesting
"There are defense organizations that do not permit law enforcement in order that they have a free exchange of ideas. HTCIA is not a scientific association, such as AES to which I belong, whose purpose is a strictly scientific dialogue."
Defense organizations don't necessarily keep you out because you are LE, most of them keep you out because you are NOT a JD. If you were LE and had a JD you can get into most all organizations that I know of if not all of them.
The data on the computer is what it is whether we are LE, defense, fortune 500, etc. What is the free exchange of ideas when someone else may information that could greatly assist the cause but is kept out based on some silly rule that should have been taken care of in 2002.
