This is a fascinating subject, and, with the number of papers referenced, clearly very much active.

Is anyone aware of available software yet though ?

Allegedely tha Farid group developed a software for image analysis; back in 2008 I did some research, even sent a mail to Dr. Farid but got no response.. it was mentioned that the license was open, but anyway I would be interested in any case. If anyone knows something more…

Krawetz released source code for image ballistics (linking a JPEG image to a digital camera make/model ) on his blog somewhere and some people developed their solutions for ELA (Error Level Analysis)

https://infohost.nmt.edu/~schlake/ela/

(I only have this one offhand but there are more…)

Also offhand I remember a tool developed by NFI in the Netherlands called NFI Comparator to do image ballistics on a different level based on CCD noise - the theory goes, I have not tested it - it should be possible to link a JPEG to an individual camera. The project is on sourceforge (search for NFI and some other interesting applications pop up)

Image forensics is actually a very dynamic field of digital forensics.

Alex
