I have used the ImageMasster with great success, but in my new company we are looking for better if possible. Has anyone done any side by side comparisons of the ImageMaSSter Solo III, Tallon, or Hard Copy II devices? Pros and Cons of all would be appreciated.
We use a Talon and it works as advertised….but I think it is overpriced.
I've heard very good things about the Solo….it seems to do everything the Talon does at about 1/2 price……
Greetings,
I like our Hard Copy II but have some issues with it
1) It only creates one image at a time while the Solo does two.
2) It seems to require special IDE/SATA converters. I tried two different ones with it and they failed. The SATA converters that came with it worked.
3) It uses the flat ribbon IDE cables which makes for a bit of a cable mess.
I ordered a second set of IDE cables and left the SATA converters permanently plugged into them so I don't bend the pins further than I already have.
On the upside
1) It is inexpensive.
2) It is relatively compact.
3) The on screen interface is simple and functional.
4) The UI available through the serial port is simple and functional. It also allows me to capture the output of the imaging run for my report.
5) It is fast, limited by drive speeds from what I can tell.
We'll buy a Solo before too long, but we'll also buy more HC IIs, I'm sure.
