Has anyone had any dealings with the IMVU messenger before? Not something I think I've ever come across.
I've been trying to recover chat messages with litle success, I've located the IMVUlog.log files, however not really seeing any chat in them.
Any other ideas or any dealings with this program?
I did some work on a case that included these, I noted that they seem to contain a lot of system messages to do with objects, actions etc as well as chat.
Start with a word search for "lol" or "hi" and then see if you can construct a better keyword. If I recall the data is timestamped.
edit I've just pulled out my report from this case, unfortunatly I didnt actually produce the raw data, just the extracted information.
Cheers will start there then, thanks.

Could you send me some information on what you discover like what files are associated with the messages? I have been interested in looking at that messenger for artifacts to deconstruct as well as zoosk.
feel free to send any info about the files to Ryan.Manley @ wiseforensics.com
Currently I'm not finding any signs of chat in these files, none of the usualy "text speak" searches are throwing anything up.
There are references to messages, however as I'm interested purely in the content not the contacts, itas not much use to me.
Will keep digging.
Just run into the IMVU client on the case I'm working on. Find the log files by their file names IMVULog.log … IMVULog.log.1 etc do a keyword search for
\'message_text\'
Should pull out some message text.
You've probably sorted it, but I figured that I'd save the next person a lot of hassle.
Sorry for lack of response on my part, it doesnt appear that I have any chat in my files at all, so no real results I can post.
