Hello all,
I've found important temporary Microsoft Word scratch files (~WRS.tmp) on a system in two different, but very similar named directories which are
\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\Content.Word
……"………….."………………"……………………."…..\INetCacheContent.Word
\INetCache\Content.Word has a approx 50 .tmp files stored in this directory whereas \INetCacheContent.Word has over 350 files .tmp files stored.
From my own investigations so far, my understanding of Microsoft Word scratch files (~WRS.tmp) are created in order to free memory for other purposes, or to act as a safety net to prevent data loss. However, I am unsure of the following
1) Does anybody know the difference between the two directories, why these two different (yet similar named directories) exist and what their specific functionalities are?
2) Can somebody explain why is it that in this instance that \INetCacheContent.Word contains a considerable amount more of .tmp files in comparison to \INetCache\Content.Word.
Thank you.
