does anyone knows why cookies are named with a [1] at the end of the file.
thanks.
I am not 100% sure on this, but comfortable enough to provide my thoughts. Much like a cached url does, if a like entry is made MSIE will append a bracket with a numerical value placed within it. The numerical value is added to differentiate between two like entries. Example;
If you have a file on your computer named good.jpg and you save another file with the same name it would appear as "good.jpg[2]"

no,
I'm working on a CP case, where I came across to lots of cookie files and the investigator on this case asked me why certain files have the numerical value placed within it ([1], [2]).
thanks.
i thought CP wasnt PC anymore? isnt it IIOC? i might be wrong.
Anyway i beleive that the [1], [2] are appended to files to keep them unique. Else temp files would be overwritten by files from another website.
Have a good weekend all!

Hehe.. I thought the same too.
I never found out the 'right' answer for this though.

IIOC seems to be more common in the UK, while those of us in the colonies still tend to use CP, sometimes KP. IMHO. )

Ya I could never find an answer that was exactly what I was looking for but came up with what I thought was right after testing and researching it.

In my experience, it would appear as good[2].jpg so as not to alter the extension.

I really HATE it when they call it "KP", as everyone I know calls me KP. 😉
