Hi,
A lot of discussion on the forum is about forensic software, but how you present you findings. Are you investigating the data yourself or present a small piece of the data to a non technical investigator with more knowledge about the case.
I am looking for software with an index search capability, a bookmark function, a graphics overview and of course very user friendly. Not technical like Encase, FTK and too expensive software like the lab versions. I like the search capabilities in DTSearch, maybe PTK is an option.
Does anyone have any suggestions about other useful software or how you deal with this?
Hello,
You can try our product called IEF that will search a hard drive, live RAM, and files for a number of Internet related artifacts and present them in a nice report. Download a trial from

Thank you for the reply but maybe I hasn't clear enough.
I'm looking for a piece of software which can index files and present documents in a Google like search to a tactical investigator. I would be nice if he can bookmark items and got some kind of picture overview.
Just like FTK but then a lite version (prefer webbased) or DTSearch with a bookmark and picture overview.
ILookIX from Perlustro has a very interesting item called IVault which might be what you're looking for. An examiner using ILook can create an IVault out of the entire image or a subset of information and send the passworded and encrypted IVault to someone else. The second person buys an IVault subscription which allows him/her to view the IVault and do their own searches or reports with the data given to them.
I've used ILook for years but DO NOT work for the company. I just like the product.
