Hello All,

Quite a tricky one this…

I have an iPhone 4S running an iteration of IOS 6 that is stuck is what seems to be a boot loop (although as you'll see, it's slightly more complex than tjust that). Bottom line of it is, there are image files on the camera roll that I am looking to extract from the device… Problem is as follows…

When unplugged from any form of charging (through laptop or mains), the phone will occasionally power on but will only occasionally boot past the initial Apple logo before restarting the process. Most of the time, it won't even power on (at this point its worth noting that I can see that the phone has 100% battery charge - from later examples)

When plugged in to a USB port on a laptop (I've tried a variety of laptops and slots to vary the power levels), it will occasionally boot up to the lock screen (as the previous example - it reboots instantly) but for the most part it remains stuck in a boot loop not getting past the Apple logo for more than a second or two before rebooting.

I can put the phone into recovery mode and into DFU mode but neither of these options seem to allow access to the file system to recover any of the data (I am limited to OS tools for now). When the phone is in recovery mode I can see it in iTunes (as you would expect) but can't do anything other than restore the phone which, as it's flash memory, will erase the data and render it gone. Likewise, the few tools I've tried don't allow file access whilst in recovery mode.

Final quirk… When plugged directly in to the mains using a 5W iPad charging adapter, I can boot successfully, get to the lock screena nd even on occasion get past the lock screen into the user interface. Problem here is that there is no form of network connectivity. Wi-Fi is greyed out, Bluetooth doesn't recognise new connections and there is no SIM connectivity either.

I have tried the "Volume Up" boot function and this has also proved unsuccessful.

Firstly, would the likes of XRY or Oxygen be able to see the data on the phone whilst in recovery, DFU or any other mode?

If not, are there any OS tools available that would allow me to get to the data? Retaining the devices original file integrity is not a problem as this is not a criminal investigation or bound by any of those restrictions so changes to the phones settings, etc are possible if need be.

I suspect my options are limited but any help is as always much appreciated!

Sorry, I should also note that I don't have access to an iTunes back up for the phone. Otherwise I suspect this process would have been a whole lot easier.
