I have been unsuccessful getting the phone out of DFU mode and therefore can't examine it. The is a tear in the main board close to U7_RF (I don't believe this can any bearing).

I have replaced the screen, docking port flex and power button flex.

Any ideas?

1.Connect your iPhone to iTunes.
2.Press and hold the "Home" and "Sleep/Wake" button at the same time.
3.As soon as your iPhone screen goes black, release the "Sleep/Wake" button and continue pressing the "Home" button until you see a popup on your computer screen saying "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode".

Although i haven't tried anyone, here is something that you can try.
Good Luck.

I've sometimes been able to kick iDevices out of DFU mode using TinyUmbrella

Worth a try…
