Looking at the information in the /Library/Preferences/com.apple.Maps.plist it shows last viewed latitude coordinate and last viewed longitude coordinate as well as a timestamp.

My question is… is that the gps location of the iphone itself when the map was last viewed or is that maybe the gps location of the centre point of the map viewed irrespectful of where the iphone was physically located at the time??

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

edit…. also there is a Route Start location and Route End Location. lets say Chicago and Detroit just as an example. The gps coordinates are a point somewhere between the 2. I am just trying to figure out what those lat/long coordinates represent. Thanks

This may be something you can experiment with, using an iPhone but scaling down the geographic area, backup the device and then review the results.
