hi all, I capture packets from iphone connected to my router via wifi. I put the wireshark on the same network via my pc and let it capture. except for broadcast I don't see it capture anything.

has anyone tried capturing packets with iphones or android???

would love to hear your experience with it.

thanks in advance.

If you jailbreak the phone, you can install tcpdump and/or pirni.

I don't want to jailbreak the phone.

I assume your pc is connected to the router by a wire?

You've got 2 options
- wireless capture the traffic, you need a wireless adapter which support promiscious mode
- wired capture of traffic. You need a router with port mirroring, depends if you router supports it, and a wired adapter which support promiscious mode

Maybe read some more topics about network taps, promiscious mode, etc.

Have you tried using Cain and Abel to poison the iPhone?

See this guide http//www.chmag.in/article/feb2012/cain-and-abel-black-art-arp-poisoning

You'll probably see quite a bit of encrypted data. Apple doesn't like to share.
