2. deleted e-mails
I see the deleted fragments using the sms browser, but the sms text i need is not there. Any thoughts on if there is another way to search.
It doesn't seem too likely that the data results would be any better if I did a physical dd of the drive.
I thought about trying the ramdisk or jz method if anyone thinks it is worth the time. the link to the automated tools is broken.
Any suggestions welcome at this point. You can pm me for any thoughts as well.
There's a few things you can try.
If you have access to a Cellebrite Physical (although they call it Ultimate now) and Physical Analyser 2.* that has been shown to do a full physical of iphones which includes parsing for deleted smss and potentially emails (i cant remember).
If you want to go the open source route, JZs method will get you the full dd and from that you can pull out the sms database. Again im not sure about the emails because I never really had success with the decoding process.
This link has some bash scripting that you can use to parse the sms database that might help you out since sqlite doesnt always delete deleted messages straight away.
