just tried downloading what audacityteam.org has to offer. ended up on a page requiring billing info. to update drivers on a new hp w/windows 10. nch no good either, ended up on page where you pay.
I sure wish I had my old laptop back. manuf. in '06, it had windows 7. digital graphic equalizer feature built right in.
is there access to anything like this?
Audacity is actually completely free (you can donate to the project if you wish).
How you ended up on a pay site has nothing to do with the program, you most probably simply clicked on the "wrong link" coming from a search for drivers.
BTW (though it may work) Audacity is NOT yet declared compatible with Windows 10

so as a new user you are definitely not wanting to experiment with it on an unsupported OS.
Maybe you want to try a Linux Live CD such as Knoppix (that already has Audacity included) but if the nice distro runs on your (newish) hardware is to be seen.
