Thanks for the information , v.katalov..

@skswati you can help from Oxygen Forensics , i believe they can image the latest iOS devices . Although its not an open source tools, but the'll provide a demo / evaluation version for you to try it out.

If you manually jailbreak the latest iOS device you will be ablt to connect to Oxygen Forensic Suite and extract all the data including emails. Yes, if you contact Oxygen Forensics support team you will be provided with the demo version to try.

Here is the response from Cellebrite about extracting data from jailbroken iOS devices

On newer jailbreak methods, the AFC 2 package is not installed as it was in previous jailbreak methods, which enables a certain port to be opened for connections. This is why PA does not detect the phone as being jailbroken.
As a workaround, you should open the Cydia app, manually search for the afc2add package and install it on the jailbroken phone. Then reattempt the advanced logical extraction again and method 3 should appear as a option. If you continue to have issues please let us know.

I can confirm that this procedure works… with a little twist.

The afc2add package they mention is only compatible with iOS 7. For iOS 8 devices, you have to install the "Apple File Conduit 2" package. Once installed, "method 3" appears in Cellebrite PA when initiating an Advanced Logical extraction.

Hope this helps.

Sorry to partially hijack this thread. Just wondering about jailbreaking an iPhone 6 running 8.1. What I could find online was that Pangu could do the jailbreak, but its recommended to restore the device in itunes to a downloaded 8.1 then restore from a backup since an OTA update of the phone to 8.1 causes problems with the jailbreak.

This won't work, so I was wondering if anyone knows of another method for 8.1 specifically, or if anyone has tried running the pangu jailbreak on an ios 8.1 device without doing a restore.

I've already downloaded this phone, but there are 10s of thousands of email that i've been asked to extract if possible.

DISCLAIMER I have not attempted the following, but it may be worth a try.

Could you possibly create a new Gmail/Hotmail/Outlook/Yahoo account, then synchronize the emails contained on the phone with the newly created Gmail/Hotmail/Outlook/Yahoo account?

I believe one can upload a PST file to one's own Gmail account, so perhaps there is a way to get the phone's email client to synchronize content with a newly created cloud email account you control.

One would then need to download the emails that had been uploaded to the Gmail account from the phone using Aid4Mail, Google Archive, etc.

I am probably missing something obvious as to why this approach would not work but maybe not D

Regards,

Larry

Interesting approach Larry. Thanks for the tip. I'll look into that. Might be worthwhile going that route and just documenting it, rather than potentially harming the phone.

Thanks!
