Regarding the principle of protecting suspect media from any magnetic field that migh cause data be damaged, is there a threshold about the harmful strength level? Or any magnetic field of any strength might pose a risk regardless of where it originates from either from a tv antenna or from regular mobile phone?
Hello
In Bulgaria we are allowed to use a mobile phone and/or radio receivers in the room where we usually store the evidences. I also use my mobile quite a lot, and I didn't found any kind of differences in the data that is analyzed, so I suppose It's OK, but you still have to check for some kind of regulation in that field in Turkey.
Cheers

Hello yunus,
I have been setting up a forensic lab and depending on how high tech you get, there are issues with taking several devices into the lab.
Limitations imposed on devices used in these environments may include a ban on wireless connections to or from the secure network or similar restrictions on EM leakage from the secure network through the use of TEMPEST or a faraday cage.
Hope this helps. I'd be interested to find out a little bit more on this myself.
Regards,
Laura
Another thing to consider is that most phones are considered storage devices. You wouldn't want to be presenting your case to court and have someone question evidence being tampered with becasue you had a phone with removable memory during the investigation. Just my opinion.
