I know that ISP logs are kept for some time by the provider but how effective are they in court?
A logs "effectiveness" would depend on the content of the logs, right?
If you're asking if they are admissible as a source of evidence; sure.
Agree with the prior poster. The weight and relevance may be a different story.
Ask judges. It is them who will take logs into account, which is solely based on their free will, as long as they are aware of what ISP means. As far as I am concerned, it will not matter for them whether logs are from an ISP or from a computer, 'cause they will forward it to an expert in any case. So, most of the time it is the experts, who manage the evidence, not the judges.
