Hi,

I have a job interview with a UK LE coming up shortly. I really, really, really, really am desperate to get this job and I have been going through the competency framework stuff. I have a list of a few questions to which I have written model answers but I need them reviewed.

Is there anyone here willing to review them and offer suggestions where necessary? If so please pm me.

Thanks in advance

Not sure if you have - but read up on Ripa, always good to have an understanding.

RIPA is useful, however you should find that considerations of proportionality and legality of the examination should be taken care of by the officer in case.

You really need to read up on the ACPO Good Practice Guide for Computer Based Electronic Evidence, which can be downloaded from 7Safe

Take note of the four main principals discussed in this document as they are pretty much central to the work you will be expected to do.

Cheers Wardy

Definitely a good read, even for those not looking for employment in LE.

Depending on what Gov agency it is they all work differently sorry to say, some will stick to the compentancy guidelines (to the book) others will be a little more relaxed and do a little bit on the compentancy side of things.

Best thing do is get yourself updated with the guidelines the others have mentioned and also ensure that you have a good understanding of basic computer terms, may sound silly but things like NTFS, FAT, FAT32, hardware software raids, all really depends on the level your going in at!

All good advice above.

I'd add that you shouldn't come across as desperate as you say you are! Enthusiasm and energy are good, but desperation is not such an attractive attribute.

My standard response to this question

Be prepared to answer at least one, probably two questions on Diversity and Health and Safety.

Our lot will ask 2 questions, you may have the best technical background ever and breeze all of the other questions, but, if you make a hash of the Diversity/H&S questions you will not pass the board.

Good luck!!
