Has anyone had any success getting a file system from a device running 4.3.1 yet?
Using the Linux tools I have added the following line under the iPhone 4 (GSM) header in the firmware.txt file
A1332+4.3.1=http//
I have updated our lab iPhone 4 to 4.3.1 and I can run boot-liverecovery and boot-kernel fine. It then gives me a 0 byte recovered file system.
I have tried unplugging and plugging in, running through the process a few times, various restarts etc. Nothing seems to work!
Any suggestions?
Anyone had any success with an iPhone 3G running 4.2.1? I cant find a tool for it?
I may completely off the mark here so someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Since iOS 4 all devices employ a block-level encryption method that means imaging the device is pretty pointless unless you can crack the encryption.
Something I've also heard is that a new tool from a forensic vendor is about to be released that promises a complete physical image without jailbreaking on anything below iOS 4. The test I heard about said that it imaged an iPad 16GB in 21 minutes.
On iOS4 devices the filesystem is encrypted with a key that nobody can recover, hence the reason the ZD tools get a copy of the logical filesystem in a tarball.
Anyone tried Jailbreaking a device running iOS 4 and doing a dd block copy, I was wondering at what layer the encryption works and if a dd copy would work above this?
encryption in on a file base, so you get the complete file system out of the dd, but the files are encrypted.

Sadly the JZ tools do not appear to support this. What tools have you looked at?
What will you do with encrypted files?

Depends what you want from it..
Standard Filesystem and full physical is possible(risky but possible). 8)
