Have a question relating to the Wiebetech Erazer printing ability. The unit itself will print out a label after wiping a drive but it has a serial rs232 connection.
Our office has an abundance of brother label printers but their connection is a usb B plug as with a lot of printers.
Anyone know of a cable with rs232 one end and the usb B at the other end. I did have a serial to usb A converter then used a usb female/female converter to connect a printer cable to the label printer but the unit did not recognise it.

Possibly you need something more "evoluted" than a "mere" RS232 to USB converter.
Example
http//www.ipcas.com/products/rs232-to-usb.html

Another example of a converter suited to printer connection (but only if PCL/Ps)
http//microcontrollershop.com/product_info.php?products_id=5031

or you will need specific drivers for a "normal" RS2323 to USB converter, something that I don't think you can add to that Wiebetech thingy.

It would probably be cheaper to buy an actual label printer with RS232 interface, however.

Thanks jaclaz, I checked out the ipcas product and it seems you are correct. It would be cheaper just to go out and buy the actual printer.
