Laptop for Forensic Investigations (Reloaded)

I'm sure you've seen or use TIM?

Do you see a big or any difference when you're able to use it in the field vs. some other software when imaging?

I did a little testing of TIM with my T35es and it is about 5-10% faster than FTK imager which surprised me. It's significantly faster over USB.

My opinion has always been against Macbooks, firstly because I am not an expert under MAC OS, and besides because most of our forensic tools have always run quite smoothly under Win OS (and, call me a coward, but changes are always hard).

However, our HP laptops are quite old now, and that is why I was considering the change to Mac. I will take a look at Lenovo since HP, Dell and Sager don't seem that reliable.

The Lenovo W series was/is my first choice but we went to the Alienware for price considerations (roughly $1000 difference in price on 15" models).

You can really deck out the W700 series with the dual screen, SSD RAID and some other nice features if your budget allows it.
