Thanks

Just been and had a fondle of a surface pro 3 and really liked it. Imming and amming (Cornish for umming and arring) between the I7 512GB or the I5 256GB.

I should have about 50-100GB free after my installation of required software (development tools). If I need to take any images with me then I can make sure they fit into this or shove them on an external drive.

Processing when developing is burst processing so continuous raw speed not essential. I7 would be better but the difference between the two specs involves a 50% price hike and probably not worth the extra.

I5 is winning at the moment.

I would go for the 512Gb drive. Drives 'shrink' when you start using them. My 512GB laptop keeps running at 90% capacity after regular house keeping.

I went for the 256GB option 200+GB free space with Windows installed - should (hopefully) be more than enough

Well most of my development stuff installed and still have about 180GB of space left. amazing how much crap OEMs install.

Just went to install Office to see that the surface 3 pro comes with it already installed - so a 256GB drive with Windows, C++ dev environment (plus main main projects), python + IDE office and all my email still leaves me 180GB of free space. Clearly v little bloatware.

For once I am surprised and pleased )
