Could anyone tell me if just opening up a calendar entry on this phone changes the last modified date?
I have a phone where the user appears to have kept a diary of all the significant events during a long period of time. I received the phone from the user on a certain date at a certain time.
Assuming the dates and times are correct then it appears certain calendar entries have been modified a few hours before the phone was given to me. So the overall question is will the last modified date only change if text is added or removed or times are changed or will it change by simply accessing the entry to view it? Any views on this would be greatly appreciated
Chris
Chris, just some observations.
Not an issue I have come across for this model, by simply perusing an entry that causes change to it. If that were the case the genuine user would be permanently frustrated due to constant unintentional changes to each calendar entry.
I can see the suspicion of something when you mention "entries" have been modified. I looked in the user guide it too makes no mention that simply viewing a calendar entry will change it. However, I only looked at SE's, O2's and Orange's manuals. I don't know if Vodafone or T-Mobile have a version of the K510i?
I wasn't sure about some of the points you raised involving time periods because I am asking myself what clock is relevant here? Did you determine clock from the handset switched on, the clock in your office, the atomic clock, or the clock on your PC?
I noted the possibility for text to be imported into calendar and to sync with a computer with the relevant computer program can do that. Any clock issues there?
Is there any evidence that the clock generally has been alteredbattery come off/SIM taken out - profiling lost set to default etc?
Setting side issues of PC clock/handset clock - does the modification date and time indicate that something (text) has actually been deleted? For instance, what if perusing the calendar the person accidently enters a space but removes it, does that mean the text has changed in context of its meaning in anyway? We may never know because we don't have a previous text sample to check. Unless it is backup on the user's computer?
The word "modified" can be quite vague at times and the actions that brought an event about can be quite elusive.
