From the outside I would have (had I not already knew what it was described) the meaning the opposite as it really is, given the fact that in English connected is both the past tense and the past participle.
http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Participle
that gives (at least to me, being non-native English speaking) a passive sense AND a feeling of "action extended over time".
Expecially with the verb to connect and derivatives.
Connection is often associated with it's duration, in the sense that when you say, as an example that a device "is connected" or "was connected at the time" you are describing something that has a duration in time and not the actual moment the connection was initiated or established.

I find more "friendly" "inserted", as in "last time inserted" though it could as well mean the device "was inserted until it was disconnected", to insert conveys more the idea of something that happens "instantly".

BUT, if you think about it, IF the intended meaning had been
"last time device was connected" in the sense of "last time the connection was effective", a better definition would have been "time of last disconnection".

Following this approach "last time of insertion" as mentioned by user Rob Lee in a reply to the post

sounds to me a better choice.

Heh if nothing else it's an interesting language debate…

I'm not really seeing this as a debate…after all, it does give me a perspective on what others might interpret. More than anything else, it's good that it's shared.

Perhaps you'd prefer discussion p But discussing (or debating) the merits of using which word would be going off-topic 😉
