Anyone have any experience of pulling images from these units? I am trying to track down the vendors but I have no paperwork and Google doesn't seem to help.

Just wondering if any of the Deltawave links on this page help in regards product manual - HERE

When using these machines I tend to image each if the drives individually so as to create a backup (often on the same make and model HDD as is installed in the machine) then I use the machines internal backup software to write specific footage to DVD. I then try and get the manufacturers software to view the DVD or try VLC Media player.

Sometimes a remote viewer is useful aswell. You can connect in via a network cable and use the internal software to view the footage. This can be backed-up using this method aswell or if you're stuck try saving the footage using screen capture software that can record continuous video from standard input.

The DVR generally encrypts the HDDs so you need it for decryption. Using the manufacturers software for viewing tends to yield better results aswell.

There's a review of the box HERE which discusses some of these issues but also mentions about the ability to identify movements in the footage and the fact that you have to save specific sections of video to windows and burn to DVD remembering to include the viewer program as it's stored in a proprietary file format.

HTH,

Ronan

thanks for the reply, this machine is much older with less options, spoke to the guy who used to import them and he said I am not the first "geek" to phone him up about this. Turns out options are limited so will have to output playback out of analog video and record onto hard drive (have imaged drive as backup?

Have you looked at the raw data - is there an obvious header within the data - we have had a lot of sucess extracting images/footage from raw data.

I would also be wary about cloning a drive and putting the clone into the unit - some CCTV systems pick up on the serial number of the drive and will only work with the last one inserted - i.e. the won't see the data on the clone and then they wont see the data on the original drive when you put it back in the system unit.

just imaged the drive as standard practice, unit has to be returned Thurs lunch time so having an image makes sense for further header searches later on or for the defense to have access etc, it's hard to expore all the options when client only has 48 hours,
cheers for the input
