LUKS encrypted drive - what to do?

I received a Macbook Air computer and the drive on it seems to be an encrypted Linux operating system.

FTK Imager shows that the drive has 2 "Linux Native" partitions a 500 MB partition and 121 GB partition.

When looking at the partition headers, I see "LUKS" which seems to indicate a Linux disk-encryption scheme. When I clone the drive and try to boot the clone, the only thing I get is a dialog window with a lock requesting a password (which I don't have of course).

Does anyone know if there is anything to do in this situation? Is there a password cracking utility know to be compatible with LUKS encryption?

Much thanks.

There is at least one
http//code.google.com/p/luks-volume-cracker/

But I guess you should study a bit on the matter and do a rough calculation of the time needed-
LUKS is intentionally slowing down password access to avoid cracking, brute-force is not a viable option, and a dictionary attack, besides the time needed gives obviously NO guarantee of success.

Thank you Jaclaz.

Yes, I've read about the algorithm used by LUKS to take the password and convert it into an encryption key and it can take up to 5 seconds of CPU time by password tried.
