Thanks for all the suggestions guys.
I was able to complete the acquisition after purchasing a zif to ide adapter from Digital Intelligence.

Sorry for the delayed response!

Yes… just done the same…. thx. Seems extracting the drive & using the adapter was the easiest method. After that acquisition was easy.

Just received this yesterday. MacBook Air
Has a 60 gb solid state internal drive.
Uses a proprietary ribbon cable for internal connection.

Is it a ZIF drive connector?

I have a Samsung HS12UHE/A hard drive out of one of these MacBook Airs. The Tableau ZIF adapters are the wrong size. Been doing some research and it appears that this drive has a ZIF connector, but none of the adapters work. The connector is 15 MM and cover flips towards the centre of the drive. If anyone has seen one of these and knows of the proper connector, let me know.

Aslo, the MacBook version appears to be A1304.

See Step 15 http//www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/Installing-MacBook-Air-Hard-Drive-Replacement/860/5

Appreciated.

edit added additional info

It seems like it sports NOT a "ZIF", but rather a "LIF" connector

In layman's term, ZIF is PATA, LIF is SATA.

It seems like there are no LIF->SATA adapters available yet, unfortunately.

You could try here;

The SSD comes with a USB enclosure, with LIF connector - but really cannot say if it would be compatibel with the original Airbook disk.

Guys, I don't know if the MacBook Air drives have changed in the last little while but I acquired an Air using a Tableau ZIF interface. I have posted my exact steps here

http//forensic4cast.com/?p=135

If things have changed since then I'd like to find out more about it. Does anyone have a spare MacBook Air they can send me? 😉

@DFICSI
Rev A have PATA ZIF (the one you posted)
Rev B&C have SATA LIF (the one we are talking about)

Just to update this thread.

I was able to find an external hard drive case that works with Rev B/C Macbook Air drive. It's made by RunCore.

http//www.mydigitaldiscount.com/ProductDetail.jsp?LISTID=80000D7A-1270043844

Works this way hard drive to the external case via the SATA/LIF connector >> external case to USB writeblocker = Hash and Acquire.

Hope this helps.
