Ideally, this can be done by examining the files directly and not needing to use Outlook, eg a file signature. Both versions have the same initial 4 bytes (!BDN), but after that I haven't been able to find a reliable difference to distinguish between them.
I have a quasi method using COM to look at the version info of emails IN a pst, but I don't entirely trust it and it's a lot more trouble than just looking at the files themselves.
Insight? Suggestions?
