Hi All,

I hope someone can give me a little guidance. It would be very much appreciated. If you are kind enough to reply please can you use simple terms as I am not tech savvy at all.

Basically I want to find out couple of things. I know how to access the properties of the document to get metadata. The document says it was created and last saved within 2 minutes. From that information I came to the conclusion that the author copied and pasted from another document hence the 2 minutes.

a) In the author field it has the person's name, I would like to know what does 'tag' mean, as it includes 2 other names.

b) it says it was revised 3 times, again what does that mean in terms of the information I have given above.

I would be so grateful for any help.

Regards,

Check
http//code.google.com/p/jiir-resources/downloads/list
http//code.google.com/p/jiir-resources/downloads/detail?name=Microsoft_Office_Word_MetaData_Changes.pdf&can=2&q=
possibly that would be enough to answer your questions.

Revision number is how many times the document has been saved due to a change.

Note that 'change' does not always mean editing the content. Change can also include any updates to the metadata of that document - for example open a word document and print it. When you close the document you are prompted to 'save' it, even though you think you've made no changes.

Word wants to update the Last Printed timestamp - which constitutes a change.

If you save that document and reopen, you will see that the revision count has incremented.

To view the contents of as .DOCX file, rename it to be .ZIP and then extract the contents. There will be several files. It is in XML, but a bit of searching will show you data you may be looking for. Enjoy!!
