Hi,

On an Acer android tablet at the path mnt/sdcard/.pfs there are a number of SVD files. I have identified that the SVD files contain a number of embedded jpegs.

Please can I ask if anyone knows what the .pfs folder is and what apps use it and what the SVD files are. The SVD files have headers that appear to include the embedded jpegs resolution e.g JPEG_250X250 if that helps. My guess is that these files are used as some sort of thumbnail cache, however I do not know which apps use them. It is probably worth pointing out that on this android tablet sdcard is the mount point for the internal flash storage.

Regards,

Richard

I have seen flash-able firmware with .pfs (and .ffs, .app) extension.

Hi,

The .pfs part of the path I believe denotes a hidden folder called pfs. Files bearing an SVD extension reside in this folder.

Have you looked at the android code depositories to find out how, when and why that directory and files are created?

Hello again,

Yes, frustratingly, the Android Source Code does not offer up much in this area, but thanks - any other ideas welcome.
