Hello Everyone! This is my first post and I have a very general question. I am an IT student in my last year. I currently have a fulltime job in a factory. My question is if anyone does this for a second job? I live in west central WI. I could not find any local companies that do mobile forensics or data recovery. Thinking of trying to start a business. I am not sure where exactly to start or if it is possible to make a go of it. Any help or suggestions would be great. I am also new to this field. Thanks!
GSM21 when I first started in forensics I was part time.
Any new entrant into mobile forensics today can be overwhelmed with what to do and what tools to use. You have an IT background. I came into forensics from a background in Type Approvals for telecommunications equipment in the 1980s to experience mobile forensics (such as it was then) and evidence in analogue cellular radio (called TACS) and I guess right time/right place the digital cellular radio network (GSM) launched in the early 1990s, into which I made the transition. These early days were part time for me as there was no full time work (not like today) in this field of endeavour.
How you proceed will largely be based upon your determination. As a start perhaps you can identify what is the service you intend to provide and then determine what you are going to need to achieve that. Some categories to consider
- Where will you acquire your knowledge?
- How will you do that?
- What experience do you have and how will you acquire that?
- What tools do you need
- What procedures are needed
There are more categories but hopefully these may assist you.
