What do people consider to be the requirements to be to be a mobile phone forensic examiner?
My question is this
What are perceived to be the minimum requirements (that would stand up in court) to be a successfully trained mobile phone forensic examiner?
For example is it enough to have a forensic computing degree and an XRY course (with no experience of examining mobile phones)?? Does that make you a mobile phone forensic examiner??
Just interested to read peoples thoughts on this matter….
Well, more training, the better of course.
My facility recently converted one of our "regular" examiners to a Special Devices Examiner. He is responsible for doing the examinations on all of our mobile devices and gaming consoles. The only mobile device training he has had is Paraben and the Jonathan Zdziarski course (actually, his first ever class given). Since I process most of our labs mobile devices, I have been teaching him on all of our tools (Cellebrite, XRY, Susteen, etc…).
So I guess, we don't really have a minimum requirement, but more of a work in progress to making him one.
Yes, I say mobile device instead of mobile phone….sry…these things are just small computers.
