diablodaz it is always hard to tell whether the situation is impossible or not from discussion on a forum.

I did think about recommending an "image" but the cost, time and finding someone local to you in Oxford possibly far outweighs the price of the miniSD card etc… ofcourse you could still go that route and still not be completely guaranteed success.

I am still wondering how it was possible to get conducted interference on the physical connection to cause such damage from a power outage during re-charging. Most mobiles and their charges have surge protectors and suppressors for back-emf. I am surprised there aren't other faults with your mobile phone.

I tried bad copy pro, and the 'h' drive status was information request. If anyone can shine some light on that, it would be much appreciated.

Also it has just came up with a screen saying that 'the h drive is not formatted, would you like to format it'. I clicked no, but I thought that it might be an indicator of some sort.

diablodaz, if all else fails, formatting a card doesn't necessarily mean losing data. You just need to get the right app to do the job of recovering deleted photos after formatting.

Here's the likely cause…

You can password-protect the N73 flash media cards - if it's password-protected, you will not be able to properly view the card, files or partition table, etc. What may have happened was the phone's FS was reset, thus deleting the file which stores the password for the media card.

The only ay to recover the password is to recover the 'mmcstore' file which is saved on the phone itself - and since that file is likely gone, you can try the default password which many Nokia phones use - 'nokia'. Simply plug the media card into a functional N73 and go into the memory card options and select 'Remove Password' and then try 'nokia'.

Hope that helps.

Jeff

Connect the phone to the PC, try the app called "MobilEdit! Forensics" to recover the file mmcstore in the directory c\system of the mobile phone (not the pc xD).

edit1 I found this dongle Here
[...]unlocks your MMC and SD cards in seconds! It removes the password, and also deletes any data in the card I think.

edit2 Try the tool called MMCMedic, it can "reformat your corrupted MMC card". Download it Here

edit3 "Use Nokia 9210i and format the memory card (no pass will be prompted)"
