Has anyone had any experience with mobile phone text messages? what I am trying to find out is the process the message goes through from the time it is created and sent through the time it is received on the end users phone.
What I am looking to find out is the time stamps, where are these time stamps created from, the end user device or the carrier time server etc.
Thanks
The time stamps are created by the SMS service centre.
thanks Fatrabbit, for arguments sake, if a message appeared on a phone to have been received at 1201am on January 1 2005 is there any way that anyone is aware of by either the sender or recipient modifying the time/date settings on their phone to falsify the time stamp on the message?
I'm still doing research into this so I'm not categorically sure. However, although the method would have to be sophisticated at this point I would say that I think it would be. You would have to modify elements of the transaction header information, which I doubt can be done on the handset itself, and which would also involve some specialist software.
