I've used Mobiledit, but not the latest version. I let my subscription expire since I found other toolkits, such as XRY and UFED, to be superior in preforming the tasks I needed done.

I understand that your primary interest is to recover deleted data. Mobiledit can recover deleted sms from the sim, but so can many other tools including some free ones. Handsets however is a different story, mainly due to the lack of standardized solutions. In my experience no single tool is capable of extracting and decoding physical memory from a significant number of handsets, so several different tools will be needed to be able to handle a representative selection of models. In many cases data recovery requires manual work on the memory dump (aka hex dump), and since quite a few handsets don't allow direct memory access you might even need to do a chip off just to get that dump.

With that said it's possible that the latest version of Mobiledit will support a physical dump and decode of the specific phone you have. Check here. If not I've had some success using UFED physical analyzer on the Galaxy S in the past.
