Quick and easy question for someone in the know…
When you move files in Windows Explorer (using drag and drop), does it effectively copy and delete or does it just update the MFT. If it is the latter, what happens when you move files to another drive ??
Thanks in advance

As long as you move a file within a partition the file will not change in any way, just the directory entry changes.
If you move it from one partition to another the destination will be created and source deleted afterwards
