I tried many programs (EnCase, R-Studio, All Media Fixer, MP4BOX, Stellar photo recovery, File Repair, O&O Disk Recovery - Ontrack…), but nothing works. I have corrupted files, MP4 (96 files - ftyp avc1). Do you have some good advice? Only program MP4CAM2AVI me show one picture preview.
How and where from were these file recovered?
Have you checked that the boxes in the file all line up?

Also, mscotgrove on this forum has done loads of research in this area, he might be able to shed some light on this.
jahelka - As Alex says I am doing a lot of work on recovering MP4 files - with a fairly high success rate. However, the sucess rate is still sometimes on a one for one basis, rather than generic.
Can you give some details of the cause of corruption? Were the files deleted, or just corrupted. Often MP4 files are not stored sequentially, so when deleted, straight data carving will not help. For this I have several routines in my standard software that will cope.
If files have been partially recovered so bits are missing it may be necessary to create a new header atom ('moov'). This is the area that often require tweeking in my software, but something I am happy to do.
With all recovery procedures, it is VERY important that the original disk/memory chip is never written to. If this has happened, recovery becomes much more complex, or sometimes impossible.
If you send me a PM I will see what i can do to assist.
The files are from 8 GB memory card (from Samsung). I made a disk image under Linux. Files should only be deleted, but an unknown company used software to recover data and restore files saved on the memory card. I discovered in EnCase (headers by searching). The company wiped out 1 GB of memory.
Files with the MP4 and 3GP I was never successful in restoring data. I will study your PDF (English language is my problem) and then I'll continue the recovery files.
I have the same header as FUNCTIONAL files. The problem is probably over. One version of the program Ontrack (in 6.0) I created the files that I try to fix it. Export EnCase (version 6.18) or function CaseProcessor was not working.
I have a lot to learn!
PS Sorry for the English - Google Translate.
One recovered file

I have downloaded the file - but it does not play with programs such as VLC. Can you play the file?
On a quick look, the headers look valid
The file is restored, but not run. Only program MP4CAM2AVI preview shows, but only one image. So I wanted to repair the recovered files.
In the PM I sent functional MP4 file. He was saved on the memory card.
The file you listed in an earlier posting does not appear to be valid. The data does not tie up with the pointers in the 'moov' atom. The file is also too short, only about 15% of the expected length.
The file you sent in a PM is valid.
You have fallen foul of the classic 'trying to help' of someone writting data back to the failed device.
I will see (as a challenge) if it is possible to reconstruct the fragment you have posted.
NB the image you see is a thumbnail embedded at the start of the file.
Just for the record, this little tool here

has in some cases given good hiints on "where/what" the issue with an MP4 files that is unreadable happens.
