Demont fort University….lol looks like im doing advert for them lol put my namein your application lol

I would say that IF it was advertising, it would probably be spelt (or spelled) correctly…. roll

Still, the Poll shows 3 times "Computer Forensics" (each one having totaled - democratically - one vote).

For what it's worth; two professors left Cranfield and now teach at DMU (at least, the last I heard). Some of the material you learn will therefore be extremely similar (if not identical).

What you should also bear in mind is that Cranfield is part of an MoD training school outside of Swindon. DMU is close to the centre of Leicester. So if the social aspect of your MSc is important, DMU might be the better choice.

Yes you are right…. For those who want to know my decision and are in similar case like me feel free to pm me i will tell you my decision and more important why….but nowdays in my opinions a good forensics specialist should have knowledge in both cyber security and forensics that my point of view and my conclusion after taliking to many people in the field and just hope that might help someone who want to know.

Davismu,

You are very insistent on people sending you PM's, what is that about???? The purpose of this platform is to share knowledge and opinions with everyone. So please share your final decision and reasons with everyone rather that members who PM you, as your question was put to everyone your decision should be shared with everyone.

Please observe my constant use of the word "everyone" )

Regards

MPF.

In my previous post there is already my final decision that is going foe the course in cyber security which contain also topics relevant to forensic. The reason which is my opinion again is that people in the field should have knowledge about both cyber security and forensic. The PM was if someone has specific questions, doubt or whatever. And also I do believe that if private message exists and is allow too there is no point why people can't use it. Maybe i did not formulate my answer well in the previous post anyway you now know my final decision in a clear way.

I would have thought that the idea of a poll (a properly worded one, not one containing the SAME choice "Computer Forensics" three times) was to have an idea of the opinions of members (supposedly more expert than you are, at least on the specific matter) taking part to the said poll, not about knowing your opinion or decision, which, quite frankly, and with all due respect ) , noone is actually interested in 😯 .

Basically you came here and asked a question through a poll, but without setting it up in such a way that meaningful votes can be casted, then, without ANY actual useful added info (exception made for the post by Chris_Ed) from any member, you took your decision.

Other replies have been either ignored or replied too in a somewhat egocentric/arrogant manner, as if you were the holder of some (unspecified) truth, that you are willing to disclose via PM only.

I mean, 5 (five) days ago you presented yourself as a disoriented/unoriented future student looking for advice and now you are going to provide it?
You are definitely a quick learner.

I am happy that you took your decision, but set apart your evident lack of poll managing skills roll , allow me to suggest you to think about refining your online communication abilities that appear - right now - below reasonable standards.

Hi,

I just wanted to add my two cents.

I'm currently completing my MSc in Digital Investigation & Forensic Computing at UCD in Dublin, Ireland by distance education (you can log in and participate live in all classes just like being there and you only need to be physically present for a few days for exams) and I highly recommend it.

I'm already a digital forensics professional with over five years professional experience and was looking for something I could do alongside my job just to obtain a more formal qualification and am very happy with this programme - you learn a good deal of everything Common Law and European Civil Law, eDiscovery, Malware Analysis, Investigative Techniques, Corporate Investigations, Computer Forensics, Web Application Security Testing, … and the staff are all active computer forensics professionals who really know what they are doing and, as such, everything is very practical and "real world".

It's great, inexpensive, and you can participate from basically anywhere in the world (I've even attended classes live during a trainride home using my iPhone and taking notes on paper). You should seriously check it out.

Cheers,

Joe

Sorry was not able to reply before, since I am revising for my professional certification exam from MIT. To answer you for the polling, I don't have a lack of poll management, I have myself developed several forum websites and polling system. When I setup the poll I clearly put two options but it did not works well maybe due to a b.ug..and I was not able to correct the poll. Maybe you have never used it before? to see that this poll system has some bugs? And I have been discussing with some people who really help me about my decisions both people from the forum and outside, I mean constructive ideas and discussion focusing on the subject. Surely not people obsessed by a poll. Moreover, I was not disoriented or whatever,I just ask for people opinions and views about the two courses. Communication is subjective and you are talking like if you have a very good communication skill, which maybe the case from your point of view only. The purpose of this topic is not about communication skill nor poll management. Also creating a topic in a forum does not means that I must reply to each one replying? Please let other users with constructive ideas reply.
Thank you for your time analysing my polling management skill…Communication skill and forgetting the essentials… Which course is better? why? and long term effets?

1. You are a bit of a smart mouth.

2. You do not have good FORUM etiquette.

3. You are trying to be very secretive about a discussion which has taken place many of times before.

4. You mention the modules only about the two courses but did not mention what uni the courses are held at as though if you had mentioned the names of the Universities you would have been prosecuted by the universities or something.

5. You completely ignored my response as below

I have enrolled at the MSC in cyber security you have mentioned which is being taught at De Montford University. I will be starting this in September of this year. I have been in the field of Digital Forensics since 2006,and believe that in order for me to future proof my career I should do the above mentioned degree (this is my personal opinion) however the MSc in Forensic Computing you mentioned which is being taught at Cranfield is a very reputable course. I do not believe that there is a comparison between the two fields as at the end of the day it is you personal aspiration as to what you are interested in.

and instead of asking my more details about my decision you PM me and ask me why I have chosen the MSc at De Montford.

6. You keep this up you will offend members and members will start ignoring your posts. as you have ignored our posts.

7. Start another post, fix your poll (if you are having problems contact Jamie he will help you out) and re-ask your question without being all secretive and a smart a*s and watch the response.

Hope my post does offend you and you learn from it.

Hope to see you at De Montford in September 😉

Regards

MPF
