Guitar picks.

I use guitar picks, instead of screw drivers, to disassemble embedded systems where the casing is snapped together.

ifixit has a neat little tool kit that you can buy for around $60 that has some great hard plastic and metal splugers which are great for that type of thing.

You mean a set of phone opener tools that you can get from e-bay or similar for a handful of bucks or something "professional"/"more"/"better"?

Here is an image of the kind of kit I am talking about, typically has a couple "guitar" picks, a couple plastic "pry" tools and some screwdrivers (this is one of the most complete ones, with some added little useful tools and sells for £4.75 on e-bay UK)

(the same can be found on Amazon Germany for a mere € 19,99)

I am not posting any direct link, but if you google image for "phone opener tool", you will find any number of them.

For an advanced set, add an X-Acto knife or scalpel.

Allows carving the guitar picks into any shape.

Guitar pick and a sharp blade.

mrgreen

…The drive will be returned to the owner and I am trying to avoid giving it back with scratches, dings, and cracks in it. …

Not carving. Opening. Although, using the blade, I am sure one can carve something pretty on the casing.
