Looking for a recommendation of a CD (DVD not necessary but useful) machine which would take a stack (can be as small as 25) and from there either make an image of them, or put the data in another location, etc.

Pretty sure that http//www.infinadyne.com/roboticloader.html is not an option, so anything else which can be offered is appreciated.

It cannot just be a robotic loader for .mp3 or audio files, it needs to read the cd and then come with software, or be able to get software which can facilitate the transfer of the data.

Please include any pricing if a link does not provide it. A lot of the sites with (call for price, or email for price) are way out of a normal company budget.

Thanks for any help.

Can you explain why?

We use the CopyPro with CD/DVD Inspector. After some work with the Dremel, tin snips and a few other tweaks it is semi-reliable at loading disks. The software itself is fine.

Are you currently using CD/DVD Inspector and not satisfied?

Also the target may be relevant.
Size of company, if it has an IT department or technician, how many Cd do you need to process daily, etc., etc.

A "generic" loader robot could be this one
http//www.dextimus.com/index.html
$890.00

Writing a batch capable of driving it would be trivial, and there are so many freeware or Commercial CD copying utilities (or a simple dd) that there is really no problem.

This is an alternative, probably more suited to the kind of work you need to do
http//www.acronova.com/blu-ray_cd_dvd_duplicator_publisher_nimbie_usb.htm
$599
or $484
http//www.deltamedia.com/NIMBIE-NB11LS.html?leftmenu=duplicatorsnav
It includes the QQboxx software (whatever it is) that should be capable of

Disc-to-HDD Back Up
Backing up your discs is easy. Just save the files or disc imges to hard drives. Just load the discs in the loader and the USB, QQboxx of the Nimbie will do the rest in automation.

For €545, you can get it from here
http//www.cdduplicator.nl/frameset.html
the place provides also some manuals of the actual software….

@ Pbobby There are lots of items on that page, which item do you use?

Also, I do not need a disc duplicator, and I am not good with any scripting, so it needs to be something with software or easy to find software.

JaClaz, This is probably a one time thing, but I'll keep it around just in case something comes up (I haven't had to ever image more CD's than I felt comfortable with putting in a CD player) There are several hundred CD's in this batch.

@Hitman, because of the price they sent me a year ago on this item. This is one job and it would be like buying an enterprise Encase for one job where you are pretty sure after 5, 10, 15 years you haven't used it, but you need it now and wont in the future.

It's basically a pro bono case and 800 CD's. I don't mind loading 25 to 50 or 100 at a time, just not one at a time and then not know the time they will be finished.

Thanks for all replies.

Then I guess you need to stay on a tight budget, and presume that the around 500 bucks is as low as you can get, here is another couple ones with the same price

Maybe you can save a handful of bucks from Media Supply

The Vinpower one is seemingly very like the same price

It doesn't have to be a real tight budget, but I certainly don't need a 5000 CD loader which texts you when it's finished and then makes a cup of coffee while you wait -)

I'm just worried about something being only for audio as I've seen a few which open up media player or itunes and burn from there and this will be all data, no .mp3 or audio.

Thanks JaClaz

it's the 9000 series - about five grand.

as for scripting we couldn't find anything that worked for us. We had two needs

1. automatically burn multiple DVDs from a source data tree. For examle, the source tree had 8gigs of data in multiple folders, kick off a job and it would automatically load DVDs and burn them unattended.

2. Conversely, take a bunch of source DVDs, read the data and write it out to folder, again unattended.

There was nothing on the market that could do that out of the box (this was about four years ago).

So we went with the scribe series from mfdigital mostly because it came with a limited API that we could wrap perl around.

Ya on a pro-bono case 5k is a bit too much, but thanks very much for the posts.
