We are trying to get multiple client computers from multiple cities to connect to one server computer with a dongle for the software everyone wants to access. Basically we can't figure out how to get the connections between the server and client computers. We have had some help and it seems we need to figure out port connections and firewall settings. If anyone has inside advice on how to get this working, please respond.
Right now our server computer is Windows 7 and we have clients with XP and 7.
how are the sites connected? sounds like you need to set up L2L connections. that will allow traffic between the sites

Not sure exactly what you mean about the sites there. When the clients open the software on their computers they are supposed to enter the IP address of the server computer that has the dongle. We can't establish that connection correctly.
I am very new to this, but I am looking up the L2L connections now.
I am by no measure a networking guy.
We have a dongle server on our local lab network, and we plug in our dongles there, specifically those where we only have one dongle, such as IEF.
What if you had that, and then created a VPN?
I have been trying to establish a VPN on the server machine for the clients to connect through and I keep getting the error 800 Unable to establish the VPN connection.
I am trying to figure out the issue with that.
Thanks for the responses so far!
Hi,
Can you explain exactly what you are trying to do, and what software are you trying to license? I'm guessing that your xp machines are running FTK and NLS is running on the W7 machine.
Do they need to connect to it for anything else?
What does the rest of your network look like? What are you using for your VPN?
NLS uses TCP port 6921
