Hello members. This is my first posting here. I have a situation where all the evidence I have was found in the Yahoo! Messenger file named "Network_user.log" and "Network_user1.log"

I am hoping anyone can provide a clear explanation how this file is used by Yahoo. I believe it is used by Yahoo to maintain message threads so you can review earlier posted messages. I also believe this is separate from the Archive feature Yahoo uses. NOTE The Archive feature was turned off on the subject hard drive.

I am presented with the challenge of having to explain the reason for this file existing to a Judge in his chambers at a hearing this week.

I can fumble through the explanation but was hoping someone has a whitepaper or technical explanation for the file and how it functions.

Also…in the Network_user.log file, for an unknown reason, the messages that were RECEIVED all had duplicate entries in the log file. The timestamps were different too. The timestamps were off my a few thousandths of a second but they were all exact copies just received a few milliseconds after the original message. Any explanation for this??

Thank you in advance for any assistance

I googled it, but can't find anything solid. I would download the app on a couple of VMs. Create a user account, and chat between the two. See what happens with the log, and you'll be able to clearly explain it.

Good luck!
